The term “ante-nuptial contract” refers to a legal agreement made between two individuals before getting married. This contract outlines the rights and responsibilities of each party in the event of divorce or the death of one of the spouses. It can include details about the division of property, financial support, and other important matters related to the marriage.

In many jurisdictions, an ante-nuptial contract is also known as a prenuptial agreement or prenup.

Overall, an ante-nuptial contract serves as a proactive measure to address potential issues that may arise during the course of a marriage or upon divorce or death of a partner.

It is an important legal instrument that allows individuals to plan for the future and protect their interests, providing peace of mind and financial security as they enter into a marital union.

Ante-nuptial contracts can only be prepared by an Attorney who has been admitted to also practise as what is known as a Notary Public.
