How many of you aspire to get married one day? Or are married? This post is relevant to all of you. Did you know that when you get married you are required to have certain documents that are related to the marriage?

These documents are necessary to prove that indeed the marriage took place and who the marriage took place between. One such document is the marriage certificate. This will be the document which you and your potential spouse sign together to show that you are married. This document differs from country to country. However, it will normally have the date of marriage, who married you, location of the marriage, names of the people getting married and sometimes witnesses.

The second document is called a marriage instrument. This document shows the type of marriage which you and your partner will choose. Whether marriage in community of property or marriage out of community of property. Check with the laws of your country which documents are required. In Botswana, these two documents have names. For example, Marriage in community of property form is called FORM B, while marriage out of community of property is called FORM A.

These two types of documents are very important, and need to be kept safe and available. They are also almost required everywhere haha.
